Immunology
Medical Immunology is an Open Access, peer-reviewed, online journal that publishes articles on all topics relevant to the immune system and human disease.
Medical Immunology is aimed towards the fields of medicine and immunology; manuscripts covering topics relating to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases that involve the immune system are welcome. Specifically, those including allergy, autoimmunity, bone marrow transplantation, cancer immunology, immunodeficiencies, infectious diseases, inflammatory disorders, and organ transplantation. Contributions that focus on diagnostic, therapeutic and prophylactic modalities are all relevant, as is in vitro experimentation, pre-clinical animal experimentation, and patient-oriented clinical research.
Medical Immunology was conceived to fill the large divide between the science of basic immunology and the application of this scientific knowledge to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases of the immune system. The immune system has only become recognized and defined within the last century, with most of our present understanding acquired only within the past 20 years. Consequently, most of what we know about the immune system has only come into being within the professional lifetimes of the practicing medical community. With this recent explosion of knowledge, there simply has not been enough time for the translation to clinical medicine. Moreover, many basic immunologists know little of the concerns of clinical medicine. Thus, Medical Immunology was conceived to provide a forum for the translation of the language of modern immunology to medicine, one that is open to all, so that eventually patients, scientists and clinicians can all understand one another, and can learn about the latest discoveries in “real time”.

Journal of Immune Based Therapies and Vaccines is an Open Access, peer-reviewed, online journal dedicated to all aspects of therapeutic applications of immunology.
Journal of Immune Based Therapies and Vaccines aims to advance the understanding of specific immunological mechanisms involved in protection for efficacious vaccines and the immune correlates of the therapeutic action of Immune Based Therapies (IBTs). The areas of vaccines and IBTs encompass many different disciplines as immune based therapies and vaccines are now being developed for infectious diseases, transplantation, cancer, allergic diseases, and autoimmune diseases.
Due to rapid developments, there is a need for a journal that is focused solely on immune based therapies and vaccines. The goal of this journal is to provide an objective peer review process conducted by those knowledgeable in the field. The clear advantage of this journal is the rapid dissemination of high-quality, Open Access scientific work, which should provoke additional scientific hypothesis, thereby advancing the field.

Journal of Autoimmune Diseases is an Open Access, peer-reviewed, online journal that considers scientific reports in the field of autoimmunity. Journal of Autoimmune Diseases aims to publish reports on clinical and experimental research in autoimmunity. The emphasis will be on studies relevant to treatment and prevention of autoimmune diseases, but basic research that helps our understanding of immune mechanisms that lead to a mistake in self-recognition will also be considered. The journal welcomes manuscripts in areas such as immunogenetics, immune cell signaling, molecular markers of autoimmune diseases, immune interventions, new animal models, transplantation, stem cell therapy, and gene therapy. In addition to high quality research with mostly positive data, the journal will also consider methodology articles, reviews, hypotheses and commentaries.
By launching Journal of Autoimmune Diseases with BioMed Central, we hope to circumvent some problems of traditional publishing. The first is a conflict between a rapidly growing body of research articles in autoimmunity and a slow and an expensive way of their handling by traditional journals. Online submission to Journal of Autoimmune Diseases will speed up peer review and, being online, manuscripts can be published as soon as they are accepted. “Open Access” to the content of the journal means that all the articles are freely accessible online, authors retain copyright, and all material is immediately available in PubMed and in PubMed Central. The second problem, the bias of peer reviewers due to personal or another attitude, will be reduced by our “double-blind” peer-review policy, when both the authors and the reviewers remain anonymous to each other.

Immunome Research is an Open Access, peer-reviewed, online journal integrating traditional laboratory research with the latest technologies, including genomics, bioinformatics and mathematical modelling.
Immunome Research is a journal of the International Immunomics Society (IIMMS). The journal aims to provide a focal point for the field of Immunomics, which lies at the intersection between traditional laboratory research and the latest research technologies. It thereby includes the sub-speciality immunoinformatics, as well as the application of large-scale genomics to the immune system. Rapidly expanding areas of particular interest include the predicting of MHC-peptide binding, mathematical modelling of viral/host interactions, and the use of gene expression arrays to model immune system pathways.
To date there has been no specialty journal covering this new and rapidly expanding domain. Researchers published their immunomics research either in general immunology journals or in bioinformatics journals. These journals generally do not have ready access to expert reviewers with knowledge in both domains - i.e. traditional immunology and bioinformatics/modelling. Furthermore, researchers interested in reading more in the area cannot easily access or find relevant articles, which are sprinkled across many different journals. The International Immunomics Society (IIMMS) has a rapidly growing membership that has expressed the need to have a high quality specialist journal to provide consistent standards to the field and provide a focal point for growth of this area.
