Many people think that oral sex is saver than genital intercourse. That is true although it is not entirely wrong too. The oral sex also preferred especially for young teens, as a “safe sex” to prevent pregnancy. Many of them only know that Sexual Transmitted Disease only occurred in the genitalia area while the fact is, the disease can also be transmitted while having oral sex. Pharyngeal gonorrhea is also known as gonorrhea throat, is a disease that transmitted by direct contact of unprotected oral sex with vaginal fluids, seminal fluids, or mucus membranes with another person’s oral.

This disease is caused by bacteria, called Neisseria gonorrhea or gonococcus. The first symptom that may occur is a continuously sore throat about one week after the oral sex happened.  Once you notice this, it is recommended to go to the medical center or doctor to get tested and diagnosed. It is better to immediately taking proper treatment for a better chance in recovery. Although, most of the time this disease is reported can be healed without treatment and harmless, but early medical treatment is necessary to prevent worse health condition.

Although some infected people do not feel the symptoms, but many people feel it obviously. Besides the sore throat, the other common symptoms that may occur are:

-          Pain, and sometimes, it can cause tonsillitis or severe infections.

-          Fever

-          Discomfort when swallowing food.

-          White or yellow discharge from oral

A high risk person should aware the symptoms above for early diagnose. However, to be sure with the result, there is a test for this purpose which is by using a standard gonococcal bacteria culture. It is an accurate test for diagnose the Gonorrhea throat. This test should be conducted in the Sexual Transmitted Disease (STD) laboratory clinic. Or, you can test it in the general lab by requesting for specific gonococcal culture test and not general bacteria testing.

To prevent the disease become harm to your health, you should have immediate treatment. The common treatment for Gonorrhea throat is involves oral antibiotics, along over-the-counter pain medications, which can be prescribed by doctors to help cure a sore throat. However, since the cause of this disease is a bacteria, this standard treatment is less effective because if bacteria resistance to antibiotics. Thus, consuming different combinations can be a solution for this issue. The injections may be required, in addition of the oral medications. One should consult to the doctor for antibiotics combination that works best to individual. Its efficiency also affected by countries and geographical regions.

Besides the antibiotic treatment specific for the Gonorrhea throat, it is quite common that the disease along with other STD such as Chlamydia. That is why it is infected people often to be treated simultaneously for other Sexual Transmitted Disease (STD).

 Although treatment for the disease is possible to do, but it is always better to prevent from being infected. Commit with your partner is the best way for getting infected. Condoms, both male and female condoms, are also can be used as protection while doing oral sex to prevent the mouth to have direct contact with genital fluids.
